Seyond to Showcase its LiDAR-Based SIMPL Highway Platform at ITS European Congress 2025 in Seville

May 20, 2025

Eschborn / Sevilla, May 2025 – At this year’s ITS European Congress (Booth C3-A1), Seyond Europe GmbH will present its advanced LiDAR solution SIMPL Highway – a modular platform for the detection and classification of vehicles, pedestrians, and traffic events on highways. By combining high-resolution 3D LiDAR technology with artificial intelligence, the platform delivers reliable traffic detection – even in the most challenging weather and lighting conditions – without collecting any biometric data.

“Today’s intelligent transport systems need more than just cameras. They need reliable data – in real time and in all conditions. That’s where SIMPL Highway comes in,” says Christian Kimmle, Managing Director of Seyond Europe GmbH. “We give traffic authorities, toll operators, and infrastructure planners an entirely new level of visibility into what’s happening on the road.”

Versatile Use Cases – From Wrong-Way Drivers to Traffic Jams

The platform reliably detects critical traffic situations, including wrong-way driving, stopped vehicles, pedestrians on the roadway, congestion, and debris. With configurable detection zones and virtual loops, SIMPL Highway can be precisely tailored to a wide range of environments – from open stretches of highway to high-risk areas like on-ramps or tunnel entrances.

Rugged, Proven Technology – Built to Automotive Standards

Seyond’s LiDAR sensors – including the long-range Falcon Prime and the short-range Robin W – provide precise 3D data with high resolution and detection ranges of up to 350 meters. Certified to the NEMA TS2 standard, the hardware is built for long-term deployment and has passed rigorous environmental testing for temperature fluctuations, humidity, vibration, and corrosion. With more than 500,000 sensors already delivered, the technology has proven itself in real-world applications.

From Automotive to ITS – LiDAR on the Rise

Originally developed for autonomous driving, LiDAR technology is now making significant inroads into the intelligent transportation sector. Its advantages – including privacy compliance (no facial recognition), reliability in all weather conditions, and highly accurate object classification – make it a future-ready alternative to traditional camera-based systems.
