Autonomous mobility is not just transforming private transportation — it is also reshaping how cities ensure safety and security. A striking example comes from Dubai, where Micropolis Robotics has launched a new generation of autonomous police vehicles equipped with LiDAR technology from Seyond.
LiDAR at the Core of Autonomous Patrols
Each vehicle relies on a multi-sensor configuration combining one Falcon ultra-long-range LiDAR and five Robin W wide field-of-view LiDARs. Together, they provide an image-grade, 360° view of the environment — in real time and in a GDPR-compliant way. This setup enables the vehicles to detect and classify objects, map their surroundings with centimeter precision, and respond to complex urban traffic scenarios with safety and efficiency.
From Pilot to Serial Deployment
What started as an innovative concept has now entered serial production. Soon, these vehicles will be a regular sight on Dubai’s streets, carrying out autonomous patrols and supporting public safety operations. The technology ensures reliable perception in challenging conditions — from narrow streets and mixed traffic to crowded pedestrian zones.
A Milestone for Smart Cities
For Seyond, this project illustrates how LiDAR can expand far beyond private cars: it becomes a key enabler of smart city ecosystems. By giving machines the ability to “see” with precision and reliability, LiDAR strengthens both urban mobility and public security.
We are proud to support Micropolis Robotics on this journey — and to demonstrate how Seyond’s Falcon and Robin W sensors can pioneer autonomy where it truly matters.
